Leading Edge Geomatics is a New Brunswick company providing aerial survey and geomatics services across North America. With experienced staff and advanced equipment, Leading Edge works with each client to achieve the optimum solution for each project.

With a fleet of four aircraft and seven digital sensors, Leading Edge offers customized solutions to clients across a number of industries including energy, forestry, and mining. The principals of Leading Edge have a combined 40 years of practice in the geomatics industry, and have worked on projects throughout North America, and internationally in Afghanistan, conducting national level survey projects. To date, LEG has flown over 100,000 km² of LiDAR, and more than 90,000 km² of aerial photography.

Bill Kidman

Bill Kidman — President

Bill Kidman is the President and co-founder of Leading Edge Geomatics (LEG). Under Bill’s direction, Leading Edge has seen tremendous growth since establishment in 2008. Exceedingly passionate about geomatics and all things related, Bill has years of mapping and technical experience.

After graduating from the Canadian Forces School of Military Mapping in 2003, Bill began his career in mapping with the Department of National Defence. Upon retirement in 2008, Bill took on the position of President and Chief Technical Officer of Leading Edge Geomatics.

Bill’s extensive mapping background includes missions around the world including Kandahar, Afghanistan, with the US Naval Research Laboratory Marine Geophysics Branch, to assist in a multi-sensor, high-altitude, geophysical survey of Afghanistan.

Bill enjoys being involved in all research and development as well as collaborating with industry professionals to discover new applications for Leading Edge Geomatics’ products and services in various industries.

Bruce Hogan

Bruce Hogan – Vice President, Director of Sales
Bruce Hogan – Vice President, Director of Sales

Bruce Hogan is Vice President and Director of Sales at Leading Edge Geomatics. Bruce worked as a Geomatics Technician with the Department of National Defence before becoming Geomatics Manager of the Atlantic region in 2002. In 2006, Bruce began his sales career working for Applanix Corporation as the account manager of Government and Military.

Having delivered keynote addresses and presentations to various military organizations across Canada and internationally in the United States, Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Romania, and Australia, Bruce has presented to organizations including the FBI and Homeland Security. Bruce brings a strong geomatics background and a keen interest in worldwide sales. As Director of Sales at Leading Edge, Bruce oversees all marketing, sales, and account management efforts, ensuring clients are satisfied with their LEG products and services.

Will Lowry

Will Lowry — Co-founder, Director of Operations

Will Lowry is the Director of Operations and co-founder of Leading Edge Geomatics. A graduate of the Canadian Forces School of Military Mapping, Will served his career on the operational side of the Mapping and Charting Establishment. After his 2008 retirement from the Canadian Forces, Will became the Director of Operations and IT Management at Leading Edge.

During his service, Will spent two years as the Commander of a Geomatics Support Team, including an operational tour as the Commander of the All Source Intelligence Center Geomatics Support Team in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

An integral part of the Leading Edge management team, Will is responsible for the planning, monitoring, and execution of all field operations involving LEG personnel or equipment.

Mike Oliver

Mike Oliver is the Vice President of Corporate Development at Leading Edge Geomatics.  Mike has worked more than 20 years within the energy, engineering and military/aerospace industries. An electrical engineer, Mike has served on the Board of Directors of the Information Technology Association of Nova Scotia (ITANS) and Enterprise Fredericton, and continues to instruct part-time for the University of New Brunswick’s Technology Management & Entrepreneurship Program.

As Vice President of Corporate Development at LEG, Mike’ focus is strengthening  LEG’s corporate strategy by overseeing activities in support of marketing, training, and resource optimization.

Utility Market Account Manger

At Leading Edge Geomatics (LEG), our mission is to provide next generation service and technology solutions in the geomatics industry.  LEG has grown to be one of the top providers of digital aerial photography and LiDAR throughout Canada and the Northeastern United States. We are currently seeking a Utility Market Account Manager to join our growing team. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Development, this position involves contributing to business development, sales, operations, project management, and delivery of LEG’s utility focused products and services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop yearly Account Plans which details product and solution objectives, sales goals, team updates etc.
  • Initiate, manage and maintain client relations and accounts
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers, leveraging support of the Utility Product Manager
  • Work with Sales to establish pricing strategy for proposals and projects
  • Engage with Utility industry professionals at industry events
  • Develop and manage strategic and channel partners
  • Collaborate with Delivery Manager and Line Managers to ensure that provided customer deliverables are consistent with the contract requirements

Essential Qualifications:

Must have successfully completed a post-secondary program, applicable to the Utility industry, through a recognized post-secondary institution. A strong working knowledge of remote sensing applications, equipment, workflow, software, products, and deliverables. Additional requirements include:

  • Strong computer skills, with emphasis on GIS tools and PLS-CADD

Business Development Professional for Airborne Remote Sensing

At Leading Edge Geomatics (LEG), our mission is to provide next generation service and technology solutions in the geomatics industry.  LEG has grown to be one of the top providers of digital aerial photography and LiDAR throughout Canada and the Northeastern United States. We are currently seeking a Business Development for Airborne Remote Sensing to join our growing team. Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, the overall goal of this position is to develop new revenue generating opportunities with new and existing clients in accordance with the company’s business plan.   Working closely with all LEG departments, this is a full-time permanent position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the preparation and delivery of proposals, as well as responses to RFPs and RFQs
  • Monitor public tendering websites on a regular basis to identify sales opportunities
  • Participate in the marketing, planning, and technical development of products and services
  • Provide regular updates and management of clients, opportunities with the company’s the CRM Database
  • Interact and collaborate with the planning team and technical staff on a regular basis
  • Respond to client requests and maintain client relations

 Junior Remote Sensing Analyst

As a result of our expanding product offerings, we are seeking a Junior Remote Sening and LiDAR  Analyst to join our positioning and production team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the efficient cataloguing, organizing and storage all current survey data
  • Process trajectories of the highest levels of accuracy and integrity to meet project specifications
  • Provide assistance to the survey section in high survey season as needed
  • Assist with flight planning as needed
  • Provide Production Team with well-organized and standard format data sets
  • Making process improvement suggestions and contributing to best practice documents
  • Regularly researching new remote sensing and GIS/GPS technologies and service providers

Essential Qualifications:

Successful completion of a post-secondary degree program remote sensing and/or GIS. Strong computer skills and a valid driver’s license are also required. Experience with trajectory processing is considered an asset.

Controller

At Leading Edge Geomatics (LEG), our mission is to provide next generation service and technology solutions in the geomatics industry.  LEG has grown to be one of the top providers of digital aerial photography and LiDAR throughout Canada and the Northeastern United States. We are currently seeking a Finance and Administration Manager to join our growing team. Reporting to the General Manager, the overall goal of this position is to contribute to the ongoing success of LEG by overseeing the financial and administrative aspects of the company. This position will support all departments of the company in regards to financial and administrative requirements.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the day-to-day business operations of LEG are effectively and cost-efficiently implemented in a manner consistent with the Strategic Plan, approved Business Plans, and Budgets
  • Ensure that all financial and non-financial reporting requirements are met on a timely, regular basis and in accordance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Standards
  • Manage and coordinate the development of external financial statements for annual external audit
  • Oversee cash, investment and asset management, coordinate LEG’s banking relationships, and manage financing activities as required
  • Work collaboratively with department managers to meet quarterly goals and budgets through efficient management, mentoring and coaching

Essential Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a minimum of 7 to 10 years of related experience in management, accounting, or other administrative area. A Master’s of Business Administration (MBA), professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, or CMA), and CHRP designation are considered assets. A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above listed requirements may be considered. Additional Requirements include:

LiDAR Data Processing Analyst, Terrasolid TerraMatch Consultant/Contractor

As a result of our expanding product offerings, we are seeking a LiDAR Data Processing Analyst proficient in Terrasolid, specifically TerraMatch and TerraScan, with experience working on large projects and datasets to work as a consultant/contractor with our positioning and production team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Define, create and setup Terrasolid Projects from scratch
  • Import all LAS data, trajectories and reference data
  • Generate tile structure based on project requirements
  • Process, filter and classify LiDAR as required in TerraScan
  • Run TerraMatch on all resultant data.
  • Assemble and deliver final adjusted data to production
  • Making process improvement suggestions and contributing to best practice documents
  • Regularly researching new remote sensing and GIS/GPS technologies and service providers

Essential Qualifications:
