Forest Inventory Analyst

We are currently seeking a qualified Forest Inventory Analyst to join our team. Reporting to LEG’s Forest Product Manager and Operations Manager, this is a full-time, one year contract.

The Forest Inventory Analyst is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining an efficient forestry analysis, interpretation, and digitization system to ensure the highest levels of accuracy, data integrity representation to focus on client needs. In addition, this position is an integral component of the LEG marketing team, advising on and contributing material to aid in promoting and educating forestry professionals on the LEG Forest Management Solution. This position in primarily based in the LEG Office in Lincoln, NB, with occasional evening and weekend work/travel required to complete field work (data collection), and participate in industry events.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•  Assist in identifying forest industry related needs for regular LEG products
•  Technical support for LEG staff and external collaborators in product development
•  Technical support for clients of forest products
•  Managing Projects under limited guidance including forest stand level measurements and generation of inventory related layers
•  Organizing and conducting field data collection to support and validate forestry products
•  Leading others in the field
•  Representing LEG at various industry events (forestry conferences, tradeshows, etc)
•  Travel as required for business related activities (industry events, field work)
•  Assist as needed with maintenance of forestry section of website and coordination of:
•  Case Studies
•  Social Media updates (Twitter, LinkedIn)
•  Other Forestry Market initiatives
•  Assist in generating new sales leads
•  Assist in maintenance of client accounts/relations
•  Assist Executive Team with Business Development efforts as needed
•  Participate in training in data processing as required
•  Compiling tree measurements into larger assessments
•  Developing standards and procedures
•  Analyzing and documenting processes
• Auditing data quality and forest measurements of coworkers

Essential Qualifications:
Successful completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma program in forestry, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
• Be physically able to fulfill the demands of field positions in all weather conditions
• A solid understanding of collecting forest measurement techniques
• Thorough knowledge of Acadian Forest tree species and ground vegetation
• Understanding of statistics
• Technical writing abilities
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Access)
• Proficient with ArcGIS
• Familiar with GPS
