Leading Edge Geomatics provides aerial survey and geomatics services across North America. Headquartered in New Brunswick, Canada, with experienced staff and advanced equipment, Leading Edge works with each client to achieve the optimum solution for each project.

With a fleet of seven aircraft and  eleven digital sensors , Leading Edge offers customized solutions to clients across a number of industries including energy, forestry, mining, and bathymetry. The principals of Leading Edge have a combined 40 years of practice in the geomatics industry, and have worked on projects throughout North America, and internationally in Afghanistan, conducting national level survey projects. To date, LEG has flown over 500,000 km² of LiDAR, and more than 300,000 km² of aerial photography.

Charles’ past work has earned notable accolades including Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies in Canada, and Entrepreneur of the Year Award Nominee. Charles attributes his success to balancing entrepreneurship with corporate savvy, and a focus on gaining a complete knowledge of industry and company operations. Charles engages with all aspects of LEG, making measured decisions to accelerate and improve performance across all departments.

Vladimir Kadatskiy

Vladimir Kadatskiy joined LEG as Vice President Corporate Development in early 2019. Over the course of his career, Vladimir has held multiple management positions in different fields, and is considered one of the foremost experts in remote sensing technologies. For over a decade, Vladimir worked at a leading LiDAR manufacturer, where he managed sales, business development, support, and product improvement. He has worked, developed, and promoted Terrestrial, Mobile, Unmanned, Airborne, and Bathymetric LiDAR market segments worldwide. Vladimir’s strong technical expertise and business competence is essential to ensure LEG’s continuous growth.

Bruce Hogan

Bruce Hogan sits on the board at Leading Edge Geomatics. Bruce worked as a Geomatics Technician with the Department of National Defence before becoming Geomatics Manager of the Atlantic region in 2002. In 2006, Bruce began his sales career working for Applanix Corporation as the account manager of Government and Military, and eventually served as CEO and Director of Sales at Leading Edge, before transitioning to a Board Member in 2019.

 

Having delivered keynote addresses and presentations to various military organizations across Canada and internationally in the United States, Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Romania, and Australia, Bruce has presented to organizations including the FBI and Homeland Security. Bruce brings a strong geomatics background and a keen interest in worldwide sales.

Kristian Valenta

Prior to joining Novacap, Mr. Valenta was a Senior Analyst at KPMG Corporate Finance in Montreal where he was involved on a number of mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance advisory transactions in various industries including TMT, healthcare, and education. Prior to that, Mr. Valenta worked as an Analyst for TMX/CDS and interned for Novacap in 2011. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Honours Finance from Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business.

Mr. Valenta currently sits on the Boards of Directors for Leading Edge Geomatics, Nitrex Metal and Syntax Systems, and serves as an observer on the Board of Directors of Chemical Computing Group, Dialogic, Firmex and Octasic.

Francois Laflamme

François Laflamme has been involved in the technology sector as an entrepreneur, technology innovator, and private equity investor. He holds an Electrical Engineering Degree from École Polytechnique of Montreal, and an MBA in Finance from HEC Montreal. Mr. Laflamme also completed the Entrepreneurship Development Program at MIT.

Mr. Laflamme has over 25 years of experience in managing technology companies. He was President and CEO of LiquidxStream Systems, a telecom equipment company in the Novacap portfolio. He was also a Partner at IUGO Ventures, a venture-capital fund specialized in the TMT industry, where he led several investments in technology companies based in Canada and the US. In addition, he was Vice-President of IP Telephony at Videotron, where he pioneered the introduction of the local telephony service using next generation VoIP infrastructure. Mr. Laflamme joined Novacap in 2012.

Mr. Laflamme is  a  Board member of  Dialogic, and Réseau Capital.  He is Chairman of the Board of Leading Edge Geomatics and Intelerad Medical Systems.

Human Resources Coordinator

Leading Edge Geomatics is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to join our team based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The HR Coordinator will support employees at all levels in a fast-paced environment, playing a key strategic role in providing effective solutions to Human Resources issues and partnering with management teams. Major areas of focus include recruiting, employee relations, performance management, compliance and implementation of company policies. Reporting to LEG’s CEO, this is a full-time, permanent position starting in January 2020.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage full cycle of recruiting process including posting job opportunities, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and extending offers of employment
  • Manage full onboarding and offboarding process for employees
  • Aid Finance team with Payroll Administration
  • Provide counsel and coaching to managers and employees on all employee related issues including, but not limited to performance management, progressive discipline measures, career development, compensation, employee relations issues, policies and procedures, and employment/labour laws
  • Help managers develop KPIs and career paths for employees
  • Maintain, update, and administer company policies as required
  • Create and update all company job descriptions
  • Work with department managers to identify Human Resource needs and associated costs for each department
  • Manage administration and analysis of HR metrics, reports, communication, surveys, organizational charts, record keeping, correspondence, personnel files as well as collecting, reviewing and documenting organizational needs
  • Assist with company benefits administration, including enrollment and updating employee information
  • Aid in creation, administration and analysis of employee performance reviews and engagement surveys
  • Continuously work to maintain and enhance overall company culture
     

Essential Qualifications:

Must have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a closely related discipline. A minimum of 3 years in HR experience is required, equivalent education and experience will be considered. A strong working knowledge of New Brunswick Provincial and Federal Labour Laws an asset. Additional requirements include:

  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing organization-wide HR programs
  • Handle confidential information in a professional and discreet manner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues independently and drive them to closure with minimal supervision
  • Possess a positive, professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills and will be a self-starter seeing projects through to completion

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer- M1

We are currently accepting applications from knowledgeable, hard-working, trustworthy individuals to take an active role in our day to day maintenance activities on Cessna 172R/S, T206H and Piper PA31 aircraft.

The LEE Maintenance team is headquartered in Lincoln, New Brunswick, and works on project sites across North America. The overall goal of this position is to significantly contribute to the ongoing success of LEE by assisting in maintenance and repairs on the fleet of fixed-wing aircraft. Reporting to LEE’s PRM, this position is permanent full-time, with some overtime, weekend and evening work, and work away from base as needed. Benefits package available, wage to commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assisting with the general maintenance and servicing of hangar equipment and facilities
• Maintaining an organized, clean and safe hangar environment
• Maintain detailed and accurate logbooks, worksheets, etc., update apprenticeship logbook as specified tasks are completed
• Participate in training courses and professional development as required
• Shall comply with all relevant safety policies and procedures; responsible for reporting any hazards, incidences, accidents, near misses, errors, non-conformances, suspected unapproved parts, etc. to the PRM or QA Manager;
•Responsible for cooperating, with QA auditors and safety auditors during any QA/Safety; inspections, audits or assessments
• Shall comply with all policies contained in company MPM and complete other duties as assigned by the Person Responsible for Maintenance.

Essential Qualifications:
• Canadian AME-M1 license
• Experience working with aircraft types listed above
• Experience working with sheet metal / structures
• Must be competent and efficient at working individually and as part of a team
• Must have reliable transportation
• Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
• Valid passport and a clean criminal back ground check, ability to travel throughout Canada and USA
