We take pride in our industry leading technology which offers our clients with high-quality results. Our portfolio includes seven aircraft, seven LiDAR sensors and five aerial cameras. To ensure timelines are met, we provide our clients with personalized access to our Client Portal. Our portal showcases the entire flight plan as well as the status of the remaining flight and raw data for processing. This allows clients to monitor progress as projects proceed from planning, to collection, to delivery, all through a web browser.

Topographic LiDAR

Topographic LiDAR allows the direct measurement of the ground surface and objects above the ground, providing accurate elevation models of all ground types, from bare ground to jungle. The 3D model created by topographic LiDAR provides information on the ground elevation as well as objects on the ground, allowing topography, built structures, and vegetation all to be mapped precisely in three dimensions.

To date, Leading Edge Geomatics has collected over 450,000km² of wide-area topographic LiDAR. Our topographic LiDAR experience spans the continent, from the far north to the far south, and in all types of topography, from plains to mountains. Our Operations team has successfully flown projects of sizes ranging from complete subnational jurisdictions to localized sites. Our ground survey team coordinates with our flight crews to provide active and passive control in all areas, from the most sparsely populated to the most densely populated. Our Geospatial Processing Solutions team has likewise provided the full range of processing steps to the data for projects of all sizes, from raw data processing, to alignment, classification, and derived product generation.

Topobathymetric LiDAR

Aerial topobathymetric LiDAR is an effective tool, which extends the reach of topographic LiDAR. It is used to collect elevation data from coastlines, estuaries, rivers and other non-navigable shallow water. The potential for simultaneous topobathymetric LiDAR and aerial imagery collection yields a complete package to get the most information out of your area of interest. Our topobathymetric sensors have achieved post-refraction depths of over 20 metres in suitable survey conditions.

Leading Edge Geomatics was an early adopter of topobathymetric LiDAR, partnering with the Advanced Geomatics Research Group to use the Chiroptera II, an innovative topobathymetric LiDAR system which simultaneously captures topographic and bathymetric LiDAR data as well as high-resolution imagery. Leading Edge Geomatics has since extended its capacity with the purchase of a Riegl VQ-880GII, equipped with a 4-band camera system. Our Operations team has experience with the demanding requirements and active environment inherent in topobathymetric LiDAR collection, successfully collecting topobathymetric LiDAR projects throughout the Eastern Seaboard. Our Geospatial Processing Solutions team has been at the forefront of topobathymetric data alignment, classification technology and methodology.

Aerial Imagery

Aerial imagery is a widely used and accurate technique of remote sensing. It allows Leading Edge Geomatics to identify and evaluate patterns at the finest of spatial scales. The imagery can be used to produce accurate and comprehensive topographic datasets.

With seven aircraft in our fleet, we deploy the latest camera systems that are individually paired with gyro-stabilized platforms to guarantee quality imagery, high accuracy, and maximum collection efficiency. Individually tailored to the needs of our customers, aerial imagery is transformed by the Leading Edge Geomatics team into a variety of unique products, including;

Data Processing and Data Resale

Leading Edge Geomatics’ data processing cycle consists of taking existing raw data from internal or external sources and feeding it through a process to produce actionable insights for our clients. The experience in quality control and processing skills within our Geospatial Processing Solutions department ensures that accurate and desired datasets are achieved for the end user. This data can be leveraged to make real-time project and resource decisions. A wide variety of output formats can be requested including, but not limited to; .las, .laz, .tif, .xyz and .shp.
